Kwong is a young boy coping with a difficult family life. His mother committed suicide when she discovered that her husband, Chan, was having an affair. Since her death, Chan has married his mistress, Tsui, whom Kwong understandably hates. Kwong steals it, which soon causes him to begin aging very rapidly. Another intelligent allegory from Andy Lau

I was expecting this to be a lightweight comedy but was pleasantly surprised by the subtext of this movie, which used the themes of maturation and family to address larger issues of Hong Kong's modernization and its relationship with Mainland China and the West.

In this respect, "Wait Till You're Older" resembles "Infernal Affairs," another film that uses a standard narrative to hint at larger issues. It is not quite at the same level of sophistication in either plot or metaphor, but it is a much deeper movie than one might be led to believe.

I don't think that I have to spell out the two sets of relationships here. They become quite obvious to the viewer with a little reflection.

Good Campy Fun

This film by Richard Griffin is better by leaps and bounds than his last film, Raving Maniacs. The story in it's simplest is very straight forward and simple, there's a monster and hey guess what.. it's killing people. But the script has enough twists in it so you stay engaged in the story without getting confused by some overly pretentious and convoluted turn of events.

All the acting here is good with appropriate tongue-in-cheek-ness that one would expect in this kind of horror film. We're not talking all start A-list good or anything here, but these people in the film are definitely worlds ahead of some indie horror films where someone calls up his buddies who don't know a thing.

My personal favorite is Adam Brown playing Bubba. Right from the opening of the movie, Bubba breaks the 4th wall and acts as a bit of a narrator for the film. He breaks in doing this at a few different points. Not only is Bubba pretty funny, he also serves to send the audience a message of "Hey, kick back. Don't take this too seriously and have some fun." And that's what you get with Seepage. You get a good pile of fun that pokes fun at the horror genre. It's an indie horror film where you laugh with a "Hey that's pretty funny" rather than a "Wow look how bad they are." There's a lot to enjoy here an no one who goes into this with a good attitude will be disappointed.

Great imagination and compelling story carries some obvious flaws

The audience for this movie is anyone in the mood for an indie film that's high on plot, and is OK with struggles in dialog and acting. There is some social commentary and questions raised as to the effect media has in influencing the populace, especially during a scandal. Standard conspiracy type stuff but clever enough to make for a good watch. I gave it a 6 because it was compelling despite the weaknesses and made me interested in the imagination of Winans. This is a young filmmaker that shows promise as long as he handles his career well. His next feature is an animation, which I believe will allow him to develop the plot a little more and I could see being a world he is more comfortable in.

The first Argentinian cyberpunk film

Interesting movie: it's the first Argentinian movie of the cyber-punk genre.

Shot in black and white, spoken in English and with subtitles in Spanish, with an excellent work of edition (the movie won an award in the Buenos Aires Rojo Sangre Festival) and an original soundtrack that goes with the images, this is a movie that you'll love or hate.

Not for everyone, but a must for those looking for different alternatives in the Argentinian cinema (and latinamerican too) and for sci-fi fans.

The plot is simple, in a near future, where people speak a really bad English, Peter Shek, former drug-addict, is implanted by the government with a chip to stop his addiction. The problem is that the implant's software has other plans for Peter, who starts a long journey of decadence through the dirty streets of future Buenos Aires.

A mixture of Tetsuo, Electric Dragon 80000V and oriental cinema, it's worth seeing just for the originality.

A lot of hot air

A few times during this movie, you will smile, maybe even laugh a little. But it doesn't take away the fact that it's basically rubbish. Oh I'm sure the actors had a lot of fun doing this flick, but unfortunately the fun is not shared by us, the movie-goers. Now, I'm not against a little sci-fi adventure or a bit of paranormal. But when it's done with zero intelligence, then it's a problem. And when the lead actors are terrible, you're in for a long 90 minutes. In fact, come to think of it, I yawned quite a few more times than I smiled during the movie. The only good thing about the movie is the generic: not just because it signals the end of the film, but also because it shows a bit of originality (you'll have to understand French though), exactly what's missing from the previous 90 minutes.

A Russian story about human experiments.. And boredom.

A friend of mine and me went to the Rotterdam Film Festival and decided to see some foreign movies. Whe figured it would be cool to see something a little different then normal.

And, oh boy, did we make a mistake. The screening started with the director telling us that you should only watch the picture and that we shouldn't read the subtitles. Because we could miss some of the message's implanted in the visuals of the movie.

That was the first sign of trouble.

Now understand, I really like weird movies. I like David Lynch weirdness. I like Miiki Takashi weirdness. But this was just to much for anyone to handle.

The movie is about an artist which illustrates insects and decides to move to an old house. In that old house he finds reports about human experiments. Experiments which seem to combine human and ape to create a super soldier for the government. This information you will get from the first 20 minutes and that's about the only logical thing you can decipher from the storyline.

The whole movie seemed to be a collection of weird shots, and in the end no one in the screening room seemed to understand what this movie was about.

So in short: If you like weird movies with no plot and strange black and white shots of burning houses and trains, you should see this movie.

If you like your modern cinema, just avoid it and forget you ever visited this page for more information.

An instant underground classic

This sci-fi take on present-day Russia was made on a shoe-string budget by a group of video and performance artists SVOI 2000, known for their situationist antics. After its release, it didn't take long to send ripples of enthusiastic talk throughout the Russian alternative scene. The cast consists almost entirely of little-known but talented and well-placed actors, the big exception being Pyotr Mamonov, lead singer of the legendary band Zvuki Mu and one of the major Russian counter-culture icons of the past two decades, who brilliantly plays a sullen and mysterious professor involved in secret scientific research conducted by the FSB (post-Soviet KGB).

The main character (the term "protagonist" doesn't quite fit), Alyosha, a toy-factory worker who lives under the supervision of his grandmother, is recruited as a subject in the research, and this brief experience sends his dreary, sedate life into turmoil. A chase ensues as Alyosha finds himself wandering around Moscow in pursuit of a fleeting glimpse of something that he is unable and unwilling to let go, while the FSB staff, annoyed at this unforeseen complication, chase him.

This trippy, dark, existential, confrontational and quintessentially Russian gem combines hilarious and mind-cringing characters and situations with surrealist dream and hallucinatory sequences, and is thickly layered with cultural and social references of varying depth and subtlety. It is greatly enhanced by a masterful score of experimental electronic music.

A must for anybody interested in the contemporary Russian underground cinema.

Might have been a better script ...

... than a film ... the film that got made out of the script of course. Because it does start good. A mystery that can only be solved by a woman. And all that on an island, where some people try to find out about dreams.

But of course there might be more to that (have you seen something like this before? Probably, but if not, you can guess what's going to happen ... not all of it, but most of it) and there is ... much more! And that's were the flaw of this movie lies, it does play with the viewer/spectator of the (or whatever you want to call yourself if you (want to) watch this) movie! It really gets out of hand, in the end and although he connects the dots there, it still remains a mess that destroys the good idea somehow ... A shame then

Great Movie

Great movie for children!! Nowadays its difficult to find movies without violent or scary content. Children need this kind of films where they can laugh easily and enjoy a nice time, without being scared out of their wits.

The story is fun, and teaches children the values of family and friends. The plot gains strenght as it develops, and at the end the children are on the edge of their seat.

It might not be made on 3D quality like other children movies, which is understandable considering the budget, but the characters are charming, the music is fun, the dialogues are witty and the drawings are very good.

I'm really proud that after so many years, Mexico is producing good quality animated films for children.

We are by now quite commonly aware of the various statistics illustrating our remoteness from our nearest supposedly 'habitable' planet, that even Alpha Centauri, a very close neighbour, is some 3 light years off and many hundreds of years travelling at conventional means (that would be our fastest rocket propulsion in a vacuum, and a slingshot trajectory). But there was something about Herzog's description of this fact, spoken directly into the camera by a suitably intense Brad Dourif (though this is Brad's forte), that hit home, that filled me with that sense of wonder, that was also also tinged with dread. Perhaps it was the context, Herzog's narrative about alien travellers having many generations ago escaped their distant and dying world to eventually arrive here on Earth, attempt to colonise and then witness generations later, humanity's own attempts to escape the dying Earth and seek out a barely habitable world across space.

There is a primary loneliness in this concept, especially so in the human's arrival at that very same long-abandoned world, deciding to cope as best as they can with the liquid-helium atmosphere. Nothing like earth but then nothing else like Earth was anywhere discovered.

This feast of philosophical posers is coloured with actual Nasa on-board shuttle footage, that, although initially falls short of complementing the science-fantasies of the narration, does eventually blend successfully. And by the time this is settled the viewer is already drawn in. The thoughts and visions being presented us, the zero-g astronauts and ice-divers floating to the semi-atonal wailing in Ernst Reijseger's soundtrack, have put us in a place of submission and meditation rare for cinema. It would be interesting to know whether Herzog created this story line around the Nasa footage or the inverse. For by the end of the film, everything is convincing.

A very unusual cine-poem that will stand up to repeat viewing. For i know each time i will come away with the feeling i have been infused with some ethereal wisdom.

Boring and Difficult to Make Any Sense Out Of

I can be entertained or interested in a wide variety of films, and I try not to be negative - BUT, this one, to me, was really a stinker. I'd have to estimate that close to half of the film footage was that of viewing the occupants of a train car sitting there doing nothing, people walking through a train station, or the view outside the window of a train as it traveled. Mind you these scenes weren't of interesting people, occurrences, or scenery, but more like the type that one would encounter as they traveled to work for about the 100th time along the same route - boring. The plot was something that very few would probably understand. It revolved around a train, that a group of young taggers spray-painted, somehow completely disappearing. One of the taggers was a quantum physics buff (yeah right - a teenage quantum physics expert) who had come up with an explanation for the train's disappearance based on some quantum physics theory. The normal film part ends quite abruptly after about an hour, and is followed by some type of cartoon that might try and explain more of the preceding film. It was so confusing, disjointed, and difficult to understand, that I could see no more reason to continue watching it, and bailed out a few minutes before the end. I don't know how I lasted that long, but I guess I was waiting for some answers or explanation of what I had been watching. I can't imagine anyone but a few that would be entertained by this or make any sense of it. I'm sure there's going to be someone that will tell me how I failed to understand this or that, and that very well could be true, but I'm going to stick to my claim that there would be very few that would enjoy Moebius 17.

Somewhat dull "mockumentary" on the Soviet Space Plan

This "mockumentary" mixes facts and fantasy, vintage footage, and fake footage, a mix of the the vintage and the new, in showing the successes and failures, the injustices and contradictions in Stalinist Russia, using its space program as the basis.

The film begins in the spring of 1938, in the mountains of northern Chile, where a flying object fell, in flames, later referred to as the Chilean Sphere". This episode is composed of clearly recently reconstructed scenes. So, an investigation of the episode by a filming team, comes upon an important discovery. This is a secret space program developed in the Soviet Union before World War II. Scientists and military authorities, the film would have you believe, had developed a spaceship 23 years before Yuri Gagarin ever went to space.

The amusing elements of fiction and true statements of the Stalin era the interesting features of this film, which lack continuity, not always easy to follow. I think it was intended for the intellectuals of the former Soviet Republics, particularly Russia, Kazakhstan, and the Ucraine. Its appeal, even in the festival circuit, is very limited.

Lacking cohesion, and depending on the non-stop loud Russian-language commentary to follow the film, it is not comprehensible to the non-Russian speaker, or a non-ex Soviet citizen in one screening. And who'd want to sit through another screening. Though the idea sounds good, it will really be quite boring to most everyone.
